Wassermann Fund Happy, Healthy Pets for Over 60 Years

Dr. Ken Wassermann graduated from Washington State University in 1971 and started work at Diamond Veterinary Hospital shortly thereafter. In 1986 he purchased the Evergreen Way Veterinary Hospital, a satellite clinic of Diamond Veterinary. He and his wife, Melrene, operated the practice for the next fourteen years. Shortly after his retirement, “Doc Wass” soon grew bored with retirement and came back to work part time at Diamond Veterinary Hospital. His life ended at an all too early age due to heart disease when he passed away in 2001.

Dr. Wassermann was a compassionate and caring veterinarian for both his clients and his patients. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved a variety of interests-woodcarving, flying, working on his VW, and rooting on the Mariners.

In his memory, Diamond Veterinary Hospital created the “Wassermann Fund”. This is a fund to assist pet owners unable to fully finance the veterinary care for their pets. The fund is overseen by the Veterinary Care Charitable Fund, a 501c3 arm of the American Veterinary Medical Association. Recipients of assistance from the fund must meet certain criteria.
